Inspired by the contrasts between the organic and the industrial, the ambiguity of my work strives to highlight the differences within these themes. Fabricated through colours and applying a vast spectrum of mediums, I explore the parameters of theories and literature within the natural world. Comprising of layers using several printing, painting, collage and illustrated techniques, I aim to reflect elements of dreams, drawing on the parallels between historical and contemporary iconography and by combining these dichotomies I hope to achieve a pastiche of surrealism.
I have recently produced a series of work predominantly inspired by the Darwin theory of evolution and am currently working on a new variation of prints. The latest pieces explore the Japanese theory of Wabi Sabi, illustrating the aesthetics and vision centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection and the beauty and endurance of female strength inspired by my late mothers struggle through her illness.
